You may have tried search for a single topics in search engines and gave you millions of pages about it. People are getting more dependent with the information they found on the internet. Medical information is one of the frequent searches in the internet. Millions of website related to health are already existing. This render the net users vulnerable to accumulating wrong information.

How can you validate the accuracy of the medical information you get from the internet? Medical information is variable and changes from time to time so checking multiple site for clarity is recommended.

Will Pricking a Stroke Patient Help Him Regain Consciousness?

You may have received an e-mail about an unusual way of delaying symptoms of a stroke patient by merely pricking his fingers. According to NY Times, e-mails containing this claim have been circulating recently, which might mislead people and result to delay of the treatment. The e-mail says:

“Help the victim sit up to prevent him from falling over,” the message states. “Then sterilize a needle and use it to prick the tip of the person’s finger. After a few minutes, the victim should regain consciousness.”

The Quest for Free Access to Medical Information

Reading medical articles aid the medical practitioners including medical students to keep abreast with the latest developments in medicine. Although there have been numerous publications about these latest development, not most of us can afford to purchase an access, especially medical students like me. A single medical journal may cost you 20$ or plus. Sometimes, it’s just so frustrating to be redirected to an article, very related to your search, but you need to have a subscription to read the full text.

The Amedeo Challenge aims to provide the public with free full access to medical journals and books over the next few years.

WordPress as a Music Portal

Finally, I finished designing my Ang Musika Natin Website. It took me two hours! Hah, good thing it’s our family visit day. I was supposed to visit my family in the community where we are currently immersed as part of our Community Medicine course. But here I am, designing for a website! Haha. I will just re-schedule my visit on Saturday. :-p

Anyway, the two hours of designing my new site is all worth it. I was satisfied with the result. Using the tutorial by Leon Kilat, and the fantastic Neo-Sapienv0.6 Theme by WPDesigner.com, I have managed to make the layout appear like a portal.
