November 24th, 2007

Mozilla has released the new and improved Firefox 3 on its beta version. How will Firefox 3 improve on things?

- Performance improvements, including over 300 memory leak fixes, perennial problems with Firefox since the beginning and an issue that plagues it badly today

- Firefox 3 does seem quite a bit speedier than version 2.

- With its intuitive search, users can auto-scour their surfing and browsing history and bookmarks for visited URLs and even page titles, making it easier to find “lost” pages as you type.

I am now on a paid host!

November 24th, 2007

My domain and other sites, has been hosted since its birth in the blogosphere by Ejam Hosting through its post-to-host program for FREE.

I have been satisfied with their hosting because I am getting the features of a paid host for FREE and so far, Ejam has satisfied my qualifications for a free host. Unfortunately (or fortunately), since this blog has been widely visited these past days, I have to upgrade my bandwidth limit and storage capacity.

Although I was satisfied with the hosting, my fear of losing my website was still there. Because it’s a free hosting, I was afraid of instability in the future. I’ve experienced this dilemma with my previous free hosts. AhPlace, my first host, for example, has been one of the most-trusted free hosts but due to hacker attacks, click frauds, spammers, and several other instabilities, it has to close down losing all the data of its hosted members. I still highly recommend Ejam, though.

THE BETTER SIDE OF THE PHILIPPINES
The following was written by INTEL General Manager Robin Martin about the Philippines :

Filipinos (including the press, business people and myself) tend to dwell too much on the negative side, and this affects the perception of foreigners, even the ones who have lived here for a while. The negative perception of the Philippines is way disproportionate to reality when compared to countries like Columbia , Egypt , Middle East, Africa , etc.

Let us all help our country by balancing the negative with the positive especially when we talk to foreigners, whether based here or abroad. Looking back and comparing the Philippines today and 1995 (the year I came back), I was struck by how much our country has progressed physically.

What to do with my PayPal balance?

November 11th, 2007
PayPal Philippine Verified

I am am now officially a verified PayPal account holder! Yay! I used my aunt’s Equitable PCI American Express credit card (sheesh!) to verify my address. I currently have more than $100 balance, thanks to Text Link Ads; unfortunately, I could not withdraw the funds using this credit card.

As Mihawk pointed out, you can only transfer (withdraw) your funds on a VISA card. MasterCard, American Express or any other card are not yet approved by Paypal. Non-VISA cards can only be used to verify your account.

Pinoy Money Talk listed the possible ways to withdraw funds from your Paypal using some accepted credit and debit cards in the Philippines.
