What is the Getmodule30.exe, Getmodule30, Getmodule32.exe, Gadcom.exe?

December 14th, 2008

Recently, a Windows XP problem is bugging its users. It is deemed as a dangerous executable file – a malicious software, could be a virus or a Trojan horse. Besides being a malware, little information is available about Getmodule30.exe, Getmodule30, Getmodule32.exe, Gadcom.exe- how to delete, remove or disable it remains unknown. Also the cause of this problem is unknown, but similar to other malware, Getmodule30.exe, it may be come bundled from downloaded software, received e-mail, or browsing a prohibited website – maybe a porn, warez, or even from trusted software download sites. We still don’t know.

TalkActive Philippines, gives us some tips on how to remove Getmodule30.exe or Getmodule30, Getmodule32.exe and Gadcom.exe. Gadcom.exe is an executable file and obviously a dangerous Trojan/Backdoor virus. Getmodule30.exe may function or work as the same. The blogger recommends a software called “unHackme” that can remove executable files, including Gadcom.exe, Getmodule30 or Getmodule30.exe.

Can you turn your iPod touch into phone?

December 9th, 2008

The Apple iPod touch, as we know, functions as an mp3 player. But did you know that it can now be transformed into a mobile phone. This extended functionality is possible using the free application “Truphone” available from the Apple’s App Store.

The Truphone application allows users with a Wi-Fi connection to make and receive phone calls via voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, with other iPod Touch owners, users of the Google Talk’s messaging service, and customers of Truphone’s Internet telephone service. The company said it expects to add the ability to handle landline calls. The applicatiom creates a virtual keyboard on the second-generation iPod Touch to dial calls, and requires the addition of a headset and microphone. Cnet.com

Truphone features that will be made available in the future include the ability to phone and instant-message Skype and MSN VoIP users, and to check and set Twitter and Facebook connections.

Truphone running in iPod touch, can be considered as an iPhone competitor, however, Apple does not seem to be alarmed by this free application, as evident by its availability in the Apple App store for free.  Well, knowing Apple, they may incorporate this feature in future releases of iPod touch.

How to deactivate your Smart text alerts?

December 9th, 2008

I have been complaining about the unsolicited Smart Telecom advisories about their current promos. I have been receiving annoying logos, as annoying as a sexy girl posing with her bikini. I also receive some monotones with .amr format. They say it’s free but if you subscribe you can receive related stuff within a week. I say these were unsolicited because I have not subscribed or activated any of their service. Well, maybe this could be a course to all Smart Buddy or Prepaid subscribers. We are all bound to receive these text spams.

I have been sending “Alerts Off” messages to 211, as stated at end of their text alerts, to unsubscribe, but to no avail. An automated reply says that the service will be deactivated after 2 days or 48 hours but I still receive them, after that span of time. In fact, I still receive these alerts until now when I have already unsubscribed for three times already. I have sent a complaint letter a couple of times already but I always get a “we’ll see to your problem” replies. The customer care hotline is always busy as expected.

To all Smart subscribers who once had this problem, how did you deactivate your text alerts?

This is a web page that you use to lead people into the target interactive site. Once there, you are trying to get the viewer to take an action such as purchasing from your affiliate sites or buying into your program.

Create effective banner ads to help get traffic to your site. You will need to find places to put these ads once you have them prepared; one good way is to agree to swap space on pages for other website’s placement on your. You can find a banner exchange program to help you locate potential swaps, or you can do it independently. You will also want to get your banner ad on a high traffic site. Place them on several online classified pages. Make sure that you keep your ad at the top of the queue by paying attention daily. You can do this free, and there are paid sites.

One of the most effective methods to brand yourself and advertise your products, programs or service is article writing. Classified ad sites are easy to find on the internet. Here you can advertise your product or service in many different categories, countries and local communities. Look out for the free classifieds and make a note on how long your ad will be online before you have to renew it. Some sites take it down after 7 days, others after 1-2 months. Make the ad copy very appealing so that people would want to click on it. You can always splittest a few ads and see which headline is converting better hence getting more clicks. Google Hijack Soon To Be Released

December 7th, 2008

Google Hijack Or How to Choose Your Niche Market

There’s a lot of advice floating around about how to choose a niche to market to. Typically this advice polarises into two camps; the “choose something you know about” camp, and the “choose something – anything – and get going…. it doesn’t matter what, just do it” camp.

Both these options are valid, and in order to make the decision there are other factors to take into account. Basically it’s a quality versus quantity issue, and your choice will likely be based on two things; the practicalities involved, i.e. whether you have the knowledge and skills required for the former, and your personality.

If your desire is to build a business around your chosen niche, developing your own product or building up a membership site for example, the former is probably the best way to go. You’ll benefit from the in depth knowledge you have of the subject, and if it’s a hobby or passion of yours you will probably enjoy the time spent on it, or at the very least will be far less likely to tire of it, and whether it’s hobby or profession you’ll have plenty of knowledge to impart and resources to call on.

This, though, is where personality kicks in. Can you impart that knowledge to your patrons? Can you write well? Sales copy, articles, blog posts, newsletters, books etc. all have to be written by someone, and if that’s not you it will have to be outsourced. Whilst that is an option that can work very well, it tends to be better suited to quantity than quality….

If, on the other hand, your goal is to build a business based on having lots of sites, built quickly to what is commonly called the “rinse and repeat” model, then the latter approach is probably more appropriate. You are unlikely to have sufficient different hobbies or professions to build the number of sites required, and although you may be able to launch two or three on that basis you will be extremely unlikely to reach the double and even treble figures that marketers with this business model typically build.

Another danger is that it is all too easy to get “involved” in sites about subjects that you are passionate about, or which you have a great deal of knowledge of. No “off the shelf” articles for you – other peoples material will likely not be up to the standard you will set, and you will find yourself writing or re-writing everything before publishing. Again this makes it hard to churn out the volume required by the “rinse and repeat” model.

In summary – play to your strengths and do what appeals to you. If you have the hobby or profession on which you can base a site, especially if it’s coupled with a talent for communication, (not necessarily writing – audio and video are big now) then go for that. If not, stick a pin in a list, churn it out, and move on!

Koobface, a Facebook Worm

December 6th, 2008

A worm, which they named Koobface (taken after Facebook I presume) is currently creating havoc among Facebook users.  It is responsible for sending Facebook users malicious code that lets them download an .exe file containing the virus.

A deceiving e-mail reaches a Facebook user’s inbox.  It has a very catchy subject of “You look funny in this new video”.  The message contains a download link for the “video”.  Once on the video site, a message says an update of Flash is needed before the video can be displayed. The viewer is prompted to open a file called flash_player.exe.  An unsuspecting user will try to install the update, without him knowing that he was installing a virus or a worm.

If the viewer approves the Flash installation, Koobface attempts to download a program called tinyproxy.exe. This loads a proxy server called Security Accounts Manager (SamSs) the next time the computer boots up. Koobface then listens to traffic on TCP port 9090 and proxies all outgoing HTTP traffic. For example, a search performed on Google, Yahoo, MSN, or Live.com may be hijacked to other, lesser-known search sites. Cnet.com

Facebook says that they are currently doing solutions for this security issue.  According to them, it has only affected a small percentage of Facebook users but if the threat continues, it might reach every Facebook user’s computer.

Koobface virus is like every computer threat, it is avoidable.   It is highly advised not to open a suspicious link or any e-mail, especially if it’s from an unknown sender.
