GSIS eCard Plus can be used to withdraw funds from PayPal

December 3rd, 2007

For Philippine users:

Are you looking for ways to withdraw funds from your PayPal account? PMT talks about several ways to withdraw funds.

My PayPal was verified however I could not withdraw funds from it because I used an American Express card to validate it. I tried the Xoom method but sadly, they have cancelled intra-Philippine transactions. Good thing my mom has a GSIS eCard Plus which I found out as a new way to withdraw my funds.

What is GSIS eCard Plus?

The GSIS eCard Plus is a VISA-powered card and is the official GSIS membership identification card of government employees. Just like any other government-issued ID card, the GSIS eCard Plus is widely accepted as proof of identification for whatever legal transactions.

What are the uses of GSIS eCard Plus?
Apart from being an ID, you can also use the GSIS eCard Plus as:

GSIS disbursement card – This can be used to withdraw proceeds of your GSIS claims and loans using any ATM.

Point-of-Sale (POS) Transaction Card – Get the proceeds of your GSIS loan or your monthly pension benefit from selected M. Lhuillier branches using your eCard Plus.

Hospitalization Discount Card – Present your eCard Plus to our partner-hospitals under the GSIS Hospitalization Support Program and get 30 to 50 percent off on your hospital bills. Click Here for more details.

Personal ATM Savings Account – Once you have the eCard Plus, you automatically have your own Union Bank savings account – free and it requires no maintaining balance.

VISA Debit Card –Your eCard Plus is instantly enrolled to the Visa Debit facility, allowing you to pay for your grocery, food, and other items and have your purchases debited directly from your Union Bank account. GSIS eCard Plus is accepted in all establishments that accept VISA.

Online Banking Card – eCard Plus can be used to pay for your telephone, cable, credit card, and electric bills online.

I have not tried it but I think you can also use it. It’s VISA powered so it should be possible.

problem is gsis ecard is a debit card. so they don’t send bills. Paypal prompted me that paypal code is reflected on the bill. :(

I think if you have an amount on any debit card, you can use it to verify the account.

You can apply for and EON debit card which was successfully used by some Philippine Paypal users to verify their accounts. You can go to the Unionbank website and apply for a cyberaccount. Instructions are stated to guide you with your application process.
