What’s your favorite SEO WordPress Plugin?
Search engine optimization is an important step to getting more traffic for your blog especially from search engines. There are plugins for Wordpress that I am using for this blog to make it SEO-friendlier and generate more traffic and ranking.
1. All in One SEO Pack. All in One SEO Pack is named because it can basically do every aspect to optimize your posts and pages. This is one of the best SEO plugin for WordPress so far ranking it as the second most downloaded plugin from the WordPress database. It has several great features:
- Automatically optimizes your titles for search engines
- Generates META tags automatically
- Avoids the typical duplicate content found on Wordpress blogs
- You can override any title and set any META description and any META keywords you want.
- You can fine-tune everything
- Backward-Compatibility with many other plugins, like Auto Meta, Ultimate Tag Warrior and others.
2. Title Tags plugins. The title tag is considered as one of the most important factors in getting high search engine rankings because the words in your title tag are what appear in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP). All in One SEO Package also offer a feature to change the title tags in your posts. Other plugins include:
- SEO Title Tag – SEO Title Tag makes it easy to optimize the title tags – for your posts, home page, and every title tag on your site.
3. Slugs and Link plugins. The SEO Slugs Wordpress plugin removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ from post slugs to make your links more search engine friendly. It works similarly with SEO Post Link which also strips off the common words in your post slugs.
Another notable link plugin for WordPress is the SEO Smart Links can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog.
4. Site Maps. Sitemaps have been widely pointed out in numerous SEO articles as one of the best ways to communicate better not only with your visitors but also with search engines. Using sitemaps has many benefits: it provides a better visibility by search engines and inform them immediately about any changes on your site making the indexing faster.
One popular sitemap generator is the Google XML Sitemaps. It generates an XML-Sitemap of your WordPress blog. The XML format is supported by major search engines such as Google itself, Ask.com, YAHOO! and MSN Search making it easier for indexing of your posts by these SEs.
5. Tagging Plugin. Tags are relied on by search engines to build a profile of a web page. Simple Tags is one of the widely used tagging system for Wordpress blogs. Previously, the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin was widely used but due to incompatibility issues with the latest versions of WordPress, it was already out of the picture.
Due to the usability of this function, the development team has already integrated a tagging system for WordPress installs.
There are a lot of SEO plugins that can be used to your WordPress blogs, that I could enumerate further. What about you?
