Internet and School
I was first acquainted with the cyberworld when I was fourth year undergrad. After few months, I learned and enjoyed blogging. I even thought for some time I got “obsessed” with blogging. Obsessed because I used to care less about the lecture of my teacher in Physics because I was thinking of the updates I should add on my blog. Yeah, I was not portraying what an ideal student should be. Before, if I was not at my study table, I was infront of the computer. The time I spend was longer on the latter. But I survived my undergrad years despite that. Oh well, God always makes miracles.
Being a biology graduate, I thought I only had 2 options to take, go to med school or to research. The second one wasn’t really an option because I was not interested in research ever since. So I tried my luck in med school. At the start of the school year, we had our self-assessment exam and we pointed out some of our not-so-good traits and how do we think can we improve it. Everybody grimaced at me when I said I stay too much infront of the computer. The dean then advised me to better stop it because it will not do me any good. It’s one of the life’s luxuries that I should avoid, so she says. I agreed with her, though deep inside I kept convincing myself I could do that.
My interest in the internet and blogging still persists until now. Though the internet hours I spend was shorter than I used to. My friends keep asking me how do I manage to do both at the same time, they were pointing at that I should devote totally my time to my studies. I only shrug off their comments or tell them (jokily) that I am developing myself to be a “multi-tasker” in preparation for my future career of being a doctor (if God permits).
Really, it is hard to do both simultaneously but time management should take its part. And oh, you should let self-control lurk in every time. ![]()
