Job 101: Win that Finance Job Interview

February 5th, 2007

Finance jobs are one of the most sought-after jobs because they offer thousands of opportunities. Searching the internet alone could give you thousands of websites which will help you find your financial career. However, before you get that job, you must win your job interview.

Here are some few tips that could gain you points from your interviewer, and probably will make an impression that you are fit for the job:

1. Before going to a job interview, practice and develop anticipation. Consider the things that might be asked to you during the interview, and give the possible answers for them.

2. Know your self. Interviewers always ask to tell them more about yourself. Be concise with your self-description and stay straight to the point. Do not bore your interviewer by relaying your life story. Important reminder: DO NOT brag about yourself; just simply tell a story about your self.

3. Know the job and be sure to do a research about the company you are applying for. You will make a great impression because it will show your interest with the job or the company.

4. Dress appropriately. You can follow the dress code of the company or blend into the organizational culture.

5. Write a thank you note. This is one of the important things job interviewees often miss out. Thank you notes show that you follow through. Again, this will make another big impression from your interviewer.

There are a number of practical ways that may guide you in getting your accounting jobs, you may follow them or devise your own strategies. The most important thing that you should remember is “aim to get that job.”
