New Year, New Internet Connection

January 11th, 2007

I had a very tragic internet connection these past few days, thus, no blog updates. I was using PLDT Vibe Dial-up, where I could get a maximum speed of 45.2 Kbps. I was fine with it because my only purpose then in using the internet is browsing - blogging, updating websites, checking e-mails, and posting in some message board. Every time I want to download something, I go to a nearby cafe.

Unfortunately, PLDT Vibe was phased out in our area to make way for Pwede Card! their recent innovation. It is a multi-purpose, reloadable card. It could have been nicer because you only have to purchase one card and reload it. It’s environment-friendly, that is. I thought it was better than PLDT Vibe card, disappointingly, it’s worse! I could not connect. My 30-peso worth card had expired after 3 days and I haven’t even used it! Frustrating.

So I decided to apply for SmartBRO, Plan 999. And finally, after long wait (7 working days!), it was installed. It has a nice speed, at much faster than my previous 45.2 Kbps connection. I have to save 35 pesos everyday to pay for the monthly bills, though. My parents only paid for the installation at ako ang bahala sa monthly bills! But that’s fine, I will just ask for an additional allowance. :P

Naks! Congrats on the new and faster connection. But how is it? My globelines broadband is still as slow as a dial-up! *sighs*

Currently I have a speed of 290 Kbps. I’m still overwhelmed by the faster speed. Haha. I’ve been on dial-up for over a year, that’s why. Haha.

I was opting to apply for Globelines nga sana eh kasi mas mabilis daw. But due to recent problems in their connection, nag Smart Bro na lang ako. I could not wait for another week na walang internet!

Cross your fingers that your speed will last longer than 2 weeks! =P

I was once a smart bro-ken sub but i switch to bayantel just for the SOD and faster connection (basically the same as smart bro pero at least i’m reaching 350 KBps than what i had with Smart na 290). Naasar ako sa smart bro-ken kasi ang bagal and i don’t think I’m getting what I paid for. Of course it is different in the province than here in manila.

If i will shed out 1k a month siguro pagtyatyagan ko na yung PLDT dsl atleast 512/768 KBps (depends on the technology used kasi) kahit na mabagal ang service hehe. yun lang kasi option ko pero walang slot kaya Bayantel na ako hehe.

Well lahat ng DSL damay, cguro mas ok ang connection ng smart NGAYON kasi ibang infrastructure ang gamit nila compred to the wired DSL.

Pero for longer investment i’ll go with globe kung meron sa area ko kaso wala pa eh.

Wala kasi akong choice. Yun lang kasi ngayon ang readily accessible. Okay lang naman sa akin ang ganitong speed. At least much faster tha dial-up. Hehe. Pwede ng pagtiyagaan.

For an internet user like me who was used to dial-up connection, the speed is kinda overwhelming.
