It was 17 days ago when the WordPress team released the latest version (WordPress 2.0.5). This newest version promises major bug and security fixes. But some of the users are reporting Sever 500 Errors when they upgraded to the latest version. I also experienced the same problem with my previous blog.
These errors are experienced when login in to the admin area, creating a new post, and posting comments. The optional excerpt fields also returns a 404 error. Going directly to the WordPress admin panel using http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin does not redirect you to the login page (when you are not logged in) or to you admin area, instead it gives a 302 Found server error.
So I’ve decided to stick with the older version. I hope the WordPress team releases the 2.0.6 version wityh this bug fixed soon so I will wait for it.
Anyway for those who have experienced these errors, you can tune-up your WordPress using this plugin. Some users report success upon installing this plugin.

Added you up, I had problems with my previous set-up that’s why I opted to stop the registration, instead i’m adding the site manually.
Thanks for joining..

Good decision to roll it back to the old version.
Anyhow, my wild guess about these http errors is that your server (host) might be running in safemode.
Isang paalala: next time when you implement the new realease, try testing (beta) on other directory so your site will continue to run smoothly without the bloody process of software roll-down and rebuilding everything. Kulit ko ano…

PWL: Thanks for adding me up!
Myepinoy: Yeah, I will do that next time. But I’ve tried the plugin with my other site and it worked well.

I think they’ll fix it once 2.0.5.1 comes out.
