PLDT Vibe to Pwede! Card

January 12th, 2007

PLDT Vibe is now phased out to give way to Pwede Card. The latter has multiple purposes – it can be used to make local, NDD, IDD, and cellular calls. It can also be used for internet browsing, replacing PLDT Vibe. The connection rate is the same with PLDT Vibe which is P5.00 per hour.

Pros:

1. You will have a permanent username (your card number) and a password (PIN). The card number consists of 11 numbers, so this works like a SIM card. With PLDT Vibe, you have a different username and password for every card.

2. The 4-digt PIN is easier to memorize than the 8-digit password for PLDT Vibe.

3. It is reload-able through electronic load, thus, you won’t have to worry that it will get out of stocks. It can be reloaded in all SMARTLoad centers nationwide.

4. Perhaps the most important advantage of this one is it more environment-friendly. You only have to get one card, meaning lesser waste. My used PLDT Vibe cards ever since I started using it (over a year) can already cover my room’s walls! I usually consume an average of 1 card every 2-3 days. (It made me realize that a broadband connection, though paid in bulk, is cheaper than dial-up connection).

5. It can make you switch to a broadband connection.

Cons:

1. Every load denomination has its validity. If you reload P30, you have to use it within 3 days. P60 and P115 is good for 6 and 12 days, respectively. The maximum amount that you can load is P500, which is good for 60 days. This make it not so consumer-friendly. The PLDT Vibe card expires 2 months from first use.

2. It is user sensitive, which means that everybody who has possession of the card can use it.

3. It can connect, but you can’t really connect to the pages. I mean it appears in your task bar that you get connected but you can’t open any page.

4. It can make you switch to a broadband connection.

Yeah, we just got the card yesterday. But I don’t think we’ll use it because we have DSL already. And we don’t really use IDD and NDD. :p

Switching to DSL or broadband or WIFI is the best thing that you could do. Parang mas magastos yata yang card na yan.

If you look closely they used a new number. I suspect that they are using a whole different service for their transitions.
But what the hell are they thinking? This is the worst waste of a hundred pesos ever. Their connection is crap. You can’t go unto websites, even if you did other websites will not work.
Sure it is free during midnight up to 8 am but what will you use it for? Browse connection time-outs?
There are also some issues about the teletipid I’ve heard around the net. It can’t be used on other ISPs or something. Even Infocom which PLDT owns. If those issues are true PLDT might be trying a monopoly on the internet connections here (doubt it can happen).
I suggest using other broadband services other than PLDT. They like giving us crap then we give them crap.
Other than that I’ll be jumping to other ISP. Vibe was good by the way, thanks for ruining it PLDT.

I’ve had similar problems before. I think the problem does not lie on your landline connection but on the connection to the remote computer itself. My landline connection was PLDT and it didn’t work for me, too. That’s why I switched to a broadband connection.

Maybe you can send a complaint through their costumer care. I think it’s written in the card.
