These past days, I thought I’d lose this site forever; my domain expired because of my carelessness. I have acquired this domain from Hostbidder for free through posting. Because it’s free, I should be ready for consequences, one of it is the expiration issues. And I thought I was, until I opened this site last week and it says the domain has expired. From that experience, I’ve learned 10 ways to avoid domain expiry.
1. Know the domain expiry date (of course!). Usually the expiry date falls on the same date one year after the creation date. If you are not sure about the expiry date, you can check your domain registrar or perform a whois lookup.
2. Remember the domain expiry date. Put reminders on your cell phone, on a notebook, or your computer, etc. Set the reminder 1 month prior to the expiry date so you’ll be alerted earlier than the expiry date.
3. Choose your domain registrar. It should be the utmost concern of the domain registrant. Choose a domain registrar with good and active support staff. I’ve tried a domain registrar before which took several days to reply to my support tickets.
