The New Face of Spam?

Author: Jam | Filed under Blogging, Computer, Internet

Previously, I was talking about how to completely block spam in your WordPress blog. Although, I am using 3 anti-spam plugins - Bad Behavior, Akismet and Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam, I am still receiving few spam comments. So I arrived at a conclusion that no single plugin (or if there is, I have yet to find out) can prevent your blog from spam comments. Bad Behavior was effective enough because it has prevented automated spam bots from accessing this web site, although some can still make it.

Before, I only receive spam comments such as “Nice day, best. I have the same topic in my site. Check it out (then a link to a Viagra site is provided).” or “Thanks for this great information!” then provides a link to site which intends to sell products or worse, to porn sites. These comment spams are usually three-liners. But recently, I received a comment spam disguised by its lengthy content.

I am really worried about the medications of many people use… thats the reason because show that theme to you… The Drugs like the fioricet

the most important things about fioricet

is a pain reliever and fever reducer.
is in a class of drugs called barbiturates that slow down your central nervous system (brain and nerve impulses) causing relaxation.
is believed to constrict dilated blood vessels that may contribute to tension headaches.
Together, acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine are used to relieve complex tension (muscle contraction) headaches although precisely how it works is unknown.
Fioricet may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

In the same calification we can find drugs like

Amoxicillin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia;
bronchitis; gonorrhea; and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin.
It is also used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria
that causes ulcers. Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like
antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for
colds, flu, and other viral infections.
Amoxicillin comes as a capsule, a tablet, a chewable tablet, a suspension (liquid), and
pediatric drops to take by mouth. It is usually taken every 12 hours (twice a day) or every
8 hours (three times a day) with or without food. To help you remember to take amoxicillin,
take it around the same time every day.

Vicodin is a pain killer most commonly seen as a white tablet with the name “Vicodin, is
most commonly prescribed for persons experiencing pain after surgery or intense
pain. It helps calm a person down and increases their ability to relax and forget about
painful ailments (which speeds up recovery)

the Xanax ( Alprazolam ) is an anti-anxiety agent benzodiazepine used primarily for short-term
relief of mild to moderate anxiety and nervous tension. Alprazolam is also effective in the
treatment of activity depression or panic attacks. It can also be useful in treating
irritable bowel syndrome and anxiety due to a neurosis,

you can find more information about vicodin at www.crdrx.com, 10/325 at www.10-325.com, vicoprofen at www.1vicoprofen.com and lortab at www.1lortab.com

Have a great day

At first glance, it seems a proper comment but as you read it, you can already tell that it’s a spam. How can you tell?

  • It sole purpose is to advertise certain drugs.
  • It contains numerous links, which is a usual characteristic of comment spam.
  • The comment was inappropriate for this post.
  • It is very lengthy, in contrary to the usual comments on blogs. A comment can be as long as two paragraphs with few lines on it but usually it does not exceed to 4 or 5 paragraphs
  • It contains some numerous grammatically wrong words.

See the usual features of comment spams at Lorelle on WordPress.

So with these new faces and ways of spamming, where humans are hired to spam on blogs, rendering CAPTCHA codes useless, indeed, deleting the wp-comments.php file as what Ade suggested, and closing the comments are the best ways to permanently block spammers.

Quite clever and sneaky those spammers are. They’re relentless! Luckily for me, I haven’t received single spam comment ever since my blog re-boot. I’m using only two anti-spam plugins, Akismet and Matriphe’s keycode plugin.

The only ones that were caught by Akismet were first-time human commenters on my blog, since I enabled the built-in WP option to have first-time commenters be on hold for moderation. You could try some under-the-hood WP hacks by yuga.

comment spam created by robots can be easily identified. But comment spam created by humans couldn’t be identified easily.

just for example. this comment i made is actually posted just to promote my blog linked on my name. but you didn’t know my real intention until i told you about this.

Yeah, spam is also overwhelming on my blog as well. It’s like a DoS attack already.
