Crunchyroll started out as a collection of videos of Shinji, the site owner, and his friends which are mostly drama, music and game videos. Shinji created this site as an exclusive peer video-sharing site with his friends allowing them to share their videos with each other, easily. However, it was leaked to other people and it has grown into a community-sharing website.

Now, Crunchyroll is gaining thousands of hits with hundreds of member video uploads everyday.
